The annual European Award “ Leonardo da Vinci” was proposed as an idea
by the Rotary Club of Firenze, Italy to Rotary Clubs Athinai (Hellas),
Wien-Ring (Austria) and Tours (France). The first
award took place in Firenze, in 1975. Today, 10 (ten) Rotary Clubs in Europe
participate in this Award’s ceremony, which are:

The “Leonardo Da Vinci” award is presented by a different Club every
year in the city of the corresponding club. In 2006, the new member Club, R.C. of Dublin, Ireland, was
welcome as the 10th to the group of the rest Clubs.
In Hellas (Greece) the celebrations of the Award have taken place
five (5) times so far.
The 1st at the Building of the Hellenic Archaiological
Society in 1997 under the auspices of N. Chatzikiriakos-Gikas, the
famous painter and member of the Academy of Athinai.
The 2nd at the Building of the Old House of Parliament in
1982 under the auspices of the President of
Hellenic Democracy Constantinos Tsatsos.
The 3rd at the Herod Atticus Theatre in 1991 under the
auspices of the Prime Minister Constantinos Mitsotakis, and
The 4th at the Building of the Old House Parliament in 2000
under the auspices of the President of
Hellenic Democracy Constantinos Stefanopoulos.
The 5th at the Building of the Old House Parliament in 2009
under the auspices of ex Prime Minister Mr. Ioannis Grivas.
